A visit to Lille & Cite Europe en-route home SAMPLE ITINERARY Day 1 Depart this morning and travel to the coast for the short channel crossing by ferry taking a lunch time crossing to Calais. A stop will be made in the historical town of Ypres en route before continuing onto Dinant in the heart of th e Belgian Ardennes, where you will arrive at your hotel early evening. Having freshened up, dinner will be taken at the L’ Embarcadere restaurant in the Casino adjacent to the hotel.
Day 2 We start today with an included visit and guided tour of the spectacular Freyr Chateau located just a few kilometres out of Dinant on the banks of the river Meuse. You will return to Dinant from the chateau by boat and there will then be time for lunch in Dinant after which the day is at your leisure to explore the city with its Citadel and multitude of shops. Dinner is included tonight
Day 3 After breakfast we travel towards where our first visit is to the spectacular Gardens of Annevoie, where you have an included guided tour which will last approx 2 hours. You will then be taken into the centre of Namur where you will have time to purchase lunch and relax along the banks of the river before briefly visiting the Citadelle for a stunning view over the city. We then continue onto the stunning Chateau Modave, a stark contrast to Freyr, where a self-guided tour is included. We return to the hotel later this afternoon where you will have time to freshen up before dinner at the Casino tonight.
Day 4 After breakfast our first visit today is to Durbuy, known as the smallest town on earth, where you may choose to visit the Topiary Gardens (entrance payable locally). We will also visit the family owned Jam factory where you can buy a multitude of local products including, jams, beers and soaps to name but a few. This afternoon we travel the short distance to La Roche en Ardennes where you may choose to visit the Battle of the Bulge Museum (payable locally) or just explore this pretty town and castle at your leisure before we return you to the hotel to freshen up for dinner.  Tonight your gala dinner is at the Priory, a stunning 13th century Priory / church and private venue on the outskirts of Dinant where you will enjoy your final evening meal, wine included, which will leave you with a wonderful memory of your time in the Ardennes.
Day 5 We depart after breakfast on the return journey. We stop en route home in Tournai, located on the Scheldt River 10 km from the French Border. Tournai is one of the oldest cities in Belgium, established by the Romans on the road from Cologne to France. Here we include a guided tour of the town by electric train which will take in most of the major sights here. You will also have free time to purchase lunch before we continue onto Calais for an early evening ferry back to the UK and onwards to your original departure points.
