ITINERARY Day 1 Having travelled to Venice from the UK you will board the ‘Michelangelo’ at San Basilio. After settling in you will be welcomed by your crew with a cocktail and a presentation, after which the ship departs for the wharf of the 7 Martyrs. Dinner is served on board after which you have a free evening in Venice where the boat is moored for the night. Day 2 The ship will depart early this morning and you can take breakfast as you cruise to Taglio di Po via the Adriatic. We will arrive in Taglio di Po just after lunch after which you will depart by coach for your included guided tour of Padua, the city of Saint Anthony and also a city of art and pilgrimage. After visiting the famous “Santo”, the basilica devoted to Saint Anthony, you will have the chance to stroll around the historic centre and discover the “Café Pedrocchi”, dear to the citizens of Padua. During this time, the boat will sail to Polesella where you will join it in the early evening. Dinner is followed by a free evening & the ship is moored overnight. Day 3 After breakfast you will depart by coach for your tour to the refined city of Ferrara, once the home to the Erste Court, which is listed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. You will return to the boat for lunch before your included afternoon's excursion to Verona. You will visit this magnificent Italian city, famous for its star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, and its Roman theatre. You re-join the vessel in Polesella and cruise to Taglio di Po which we will reach in the evening. There is a gala dinner on board tonight followed by an overnight stopover. Day 4 The ship departs early this morning and after breakfast on board we will reach Chioggia (or vicinity) during the morning. Chioggia, a port city of Roman origin, was the second most important city in the republic of La Serenissima and houses works and testimony from various periods and in various styles. You will be able to explore the town at your leisure before taking lunch on board after which we retrace our steps towards Venice, arriving mid afternoon. You may choose to pre-book a guided tour of the Doge’s Palace, the symbol of Venetian glory and power, and the celebrated Piazza San Marco. You will re-board the vessel for dinner onboard after which the evening is free to do as you choose. The ship is moored in Venice this evening. Day 5 After breakfast on board we depart on a pre-bookable optional excursion to the Islands in the Lagoon including Murano, famous for its glasswork. You can also visit its beautiful churches, particularly Santa Maria et San Donato, one of the oldest in the lagoon. The island of Burano, a fishermen's island, is famous for its lacework and old lace is still made on this island in the estuary. Returning to the wharf of the 7 Martyrs we take lunch on board before a free afternoon when you may choose to take a trip on a gondola (extra cost). Back on board for the evening for dinner and an overnight stopover. Day 6 After breakfast you will disembark after breakfast and return to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
