You will have time to relax and freshen up before dinner is served. Day 2 Today is a fairly leisurely day as we travel to the historical town of Falaise where you will have an opportunity of visiting and doing a self-guided tour of Willliam the Conqueror's Castle (entrance payable locally). There will be free time for lunch before we continue onto the Chateau du Vendeuvre. Here you can see the miniature furniture museum, stroll through the fabulous gardens with water fountains and take a tour of the chateau itself, still occupied by the Duke & Duchess. Day 3 After breakfast you will depart for the beautiful towns of Honfleur and Etretat, which are located along the north coast of Normandy close to where the river Seine meets the English Channel. Honfleur was originally a small fishing village that became a popular tourist town as a result of many famous impressionist painters visiting and painting the local scenes.The quaint old fishing harbour and narrow cobbled streets have many restaurants cafes and bars creating a lovely atmosphere. The seaside town of Etretat, which is located the other side of the Seine estuary to Honfleur is synonymous with some of the most spectacular cliffs in France. Day 4 The town of Villedieu les Poeles has been making copper pots, pans and bells since the times of the Knights of Templar. You could visit the excellent 'bell foundry' and have a guided tour of one of the worlds only remaining bell foundries. You will continue on to Mont St Michel, which requires little introduction and is one of the more recognisable landmarks in Europe, if not the world. You will be able to visit the Abbaye (payable locally) or for the less energetic just enjoy the surroundings of this wonderful setting, take a coffee in one of the local cafes or have a Crepe at one of the most famous creperies in Normandy, or even just stroll along the beach (depending on the tide levels). Day 5 - Departing Le Molay Littry after breakfast you travel inland to Rouen where you will probably recognise La Cathedral Notre-Dame, the Gothic masterpiece that has been the focus of many a Monet painting. The old quarter has a high number of half-timbered houses which surround Rue des Carmes with its smart shops and cafes. You will have some free time here before continuing onto Calais for your return inbound crossing and onto your original departure point.
