SAMPLE ITINERARY

Day 1. Depart from your local pick up point and travel to take the short channel crossing to Calais. Continue on to your hotel where you have time to settle in before dinner, which is included this evening.
Day 2. Depart after breakfast for the beautiful and historic city of Aachen. Since Roman times, when Aachen was a renowned health and spa town the city has grown and developed into a centre of culture. The beautiful cathedral and town hall dominate the centre of the city around which the christmas markets are based creating a lovely atmosphere. You will have the morning and early afternoon to explore after which you will travel to the pretty town of Valkenburg. Whilst the Valkenburg market might not be the largest, it is certainly the most unique. In Roman times slaves excavated 250km of stone to transport to Rome to help to construct the city. These caves and caverns now house the popular christmas market where you can shop in unique and historic surroundings. Alternatively you could choose to visit the Monschau Christmas Market, which is located to the south of Aachen. Monshau is one of Germanys oldest settlements and the original old wooden constructed buildings, some of which have become slightly 'warped', create a lovely atmosphere. You will have the remainder of the afternoon and early evening to explore before returning tot he hotel later this evening.
Day 3. En-route home we will make a stop in Bruges(time permitting) where you will have some time to enjoy this pretty town. Depending on your departure date the Bruges Christmas market might be open where you can do a little more shopping before returning to your original departure point.
