SAMPLE ITINERARYDay 1 - Suggest breaking the journey up enroute north at Shugborough (NT*) near Stafford where you could have a lunch stop. This would allow everyone the opportunity of stopping at a pleasant location therefore incorporating the travelling days rather than stopping at service areas etc. Day 2 - Today we travel to Bowness-on-Windermere & Hawkshead, home to 'the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction' & the Beatrix Potter Gallery (NT*) which you might like to visit , where you will have the morning at your leisure. Hill Top, near Sawrey is also NT* and can be included today. We finish today with an included one hour cruise on the Ullswater Steamer from Glenridding to Pooley Bridge which takes in the entire length of the lake. Your coach will then collect you at the end of your cruise and return you to the hotel in tme to freshen up before dinner. Day 3 - Today is a fairly leisurely day as we head towards the western coast visiting the seaside town of Whitehaven where we have included a visit to the 'Rum Story', this is the World's first attraction depicting the story of the U K Rum Trade. You can have lunch here before free time for a leisurely walk around the harbour and town as we then go onto Lakeland Sheep & Wool Centre in Cockermouth where you will see a live show including different breeds of sheep dogs and there is sure to be something for everyone at the Visitors centre. Wordsworth House (NT*) is also in Cockermouth and this visit can also be included today.
Day 4 - This morning we visit the vibrant town of Kendal situated on the River Kent where you will have free time to explore at your leisure. From here we continue onto Sizergh Castle & Garden (NT*) before an optional cruise on Lake Windermere (additional cost) before returning to the hotel later on today.
Day 5- Today we head south to Holker Hall & Gardens and the Lakeland Motor Museum near the medieval village of Cartmel. This is 3 superb attractions in one, set in beautiful settings, the house and gardens are well worth a vi sit (entrance included). This afternoon you will have time to visit Cartmel, one of the South Lakeland's oldest villages, where we may be able to arrange for the Town Crier to meet the coach on arrival (Thursday's only) and this is also market day. We return you to the hotel later today. Day 6 - Departing the hotel after breakfast we start our journey home. We stop en route at Lyme Park (NT*) in Cheshire. We will spend a couple of hours at your leisure here before continuing the journey south, arriving back at your original departure point later in the day.Departing the hotel after breakfast we start our journey home. If you prefer to have alternative excursions and visits these can be substituted where required. Should you also prefer a shorter or longer duration tour then we can also offer this and re-package your holiday accordingly. Please note that entrance into NT properties marked (NT*) have free entry for card carrying members, any non-members will have to pay entrances locally.
