Day 2 - Today we travel into the historic city of Lincoln where on arrival you will have a guided tour of the magnificent Cathedral in the heart of the old town, one of the film locations for the Da Vinci Code and a truly spectacular building which is steeped in history. You will have free time for lunch before we continue onto Doddington Hall which ranks as one of the best Elizabethan houses in England, designed by the great architect Robert Smythson & built between 1593 and 1600. The very varied gardens must also be seen and take time also to purchase some of their home grown produce in their newly built farm shop. From here it's back to the hotel for dinner. Day 3 - Today is at your leisure at this Warners property or we could offer an excursion to the city of Nottingham were you can choose to visit The award-winning Galleries of Justice and City of Caves, which offer a special insight into the history of the city. Nottingham Castle offers a glimpse of the part the county has played in both the country and history of the UK, from its associations with the legend of Robin Hood to the start of the civil war. We return to Thoresby Hall stopping off at Newstead Abbey en route, a beautiful historic house set in a glorious landscape of gardens and parkland, which was founded as a monastic house in the late 12th century & was hom to the poet Lord Byron between 1808 - 1814. Day 4 - Today we head north to Gainsborough a red bricked market town and river port which has retained some of its 18th century b uildings, but its jewel is Gainsborough Old Hall where kings have dined and is truly magnificent & is reputedly the best Baronial hall in the land. Richard III and Henry VIII dined here, John Wesley preached here & the Pilgrims met secretly here. It was a factory, a store, a market, a pub - take a walk inside this awesome past & see the wonderful view of the Trent Valley, almost to the Humber, from the top of the tower in the Old Hall. Free time for lunch before we continue onto RAF Scampton Historical Museum whose Airbase is renowned as home of the Dambusters Squadron during World War II. The museum was established as a tribute to the brave men and women who served at RAF Scampton during its 80 year history. It is housed in the Station Headquarters and has over 600 exhibits covering the Station's history. These include models of the various aircraft, paintings, photographs, logbooks, uniforms and numerous other items. A tour here includes well known sites on the Station, notably the grave of Nigger, Guy Gibson's black labrador, the old buildings of the Technical Site, the Officers Mess, Briefing Rooms and other buildings of historic interest. It's then back to Thoresby Hall where dinner is included. Day 5 - Departing Nottinghamshire we retrace our steps making a visit to an attraction en route home (this will depend on where inthe UK you are based).
